no more christmas

Christmas this year was very nice. We had a great dinner and got some nice presents too. Rumor has it that there is more presents coming too. So now when its not christmas I am enjoying my holidays. I have been sleeping and resting a lot. And also had sometime for a bit of shopping.

New years eve celebration tonight will probably be very quiet, hopefully we wont get the tunderstrom forcasted. I like to see some firework!

2007 are looking like it will be a very exciting year for us. It will be the beginning of a new chapter in the Hameed family. Something we are very ready for.

It was such a nice weekend :) And I really do have the best husband. Here is a link to the poem he wrote me:
'the sun sleeps in my bed'

its a long way to picadilly

or something like that... Ask my mum she knows the whole song. But anyhow what I wanted to write about is our trip to Frankston this week and that was a long long way for sure.

In end of May this year some friends of us moved from Bendigo down to Melbourne. At first we were all excited thinking we could visit often, but then it turned out that they were going to live in Frankston. Frankston is still Melbourne -well sort of, but it is 1 1/2 hour away from where we live - way down south. We have been meaning to go visit for a while now but since we are busy all week and our friends are busy all weekends it has been a bit tricky to find a good time.

But now in Tuesday we managed to go there. And yeah they have a nice beach

But what we really came there to see was our friends. They have a daughter which was born a day after my 31st birthday so that is pretty cool. She is now almost a year and a half and are pretty busy running around and proud of being able to say 'yuk'

This is Lamaa now

and this is how she looked like first time I meet her

she sure has grown.

It was nice to see them all and see Frankston but I think it will be a while before we go back - that trip took us the whole day.

sweet

My husband heard this song on tv and totally fell in love with it. He is singing it for me all the time and the cool thing is, the song could have been written for us. We are pretty much doing everything on our own here and do not have anyone else then ourself. I too love this song now :)

We'll do it all
Everything
On our own

We don't need
Anything
Or anyone

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel

Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads

I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see

I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

talking about idol

I have seen Australian Idol every year here, and don't think I have missed more then 2 or 3 shows. The one performances though that I will never forget is from this guy; Anthony Callea. The show when he did this song was 'contestance choice' and until he came on the show had been very slow. I was sitting in the lounge room in our uni recidence with about 15 other people. When Anthony started to sing it became quiet and by the end all we could say was 'wow'. I have seen this video over and over and I also have his cd, don't think I ever will get tired of it. Thanx to you tube I can share it with you all - enjoy!

my favorite idol

Here is some video clips of my favorite in the Australian Idol this year. His name is Chris.

The first video is a cool version of the song 'crazy little thing called love'

The second songs is a song he wrote himself called 'Diamond days'. They had one night were all the contenstance could sing their own songs and play a instrument if they wanted. That was pretty good.

You Are Animal

A complete lunatic, you're operating on 100% animal instincts.

You thrive on uncontrolled energy, and you're downright scary.

But you sure can beat a good drum.

update!

I got a comment from my lil sister that I was very good at updating my blog... yeah i know she meant it ironic :P

Anyhow, life is very busy here - so its much easier to just read other people's blog then write on my own. Since I last updated Ramadan has come and almost gone... only today and tomorrow left. Its first when Hameed dont eat during the day I realice how much of our fun time together actually involves eating or drinking. So now Im really looking forward to Monday when we can go out for lunch or for a cup of coffee again.

Work is busy as always and now we have finally gotten the dates for our accreditation. Here in Australia there is a set of requierments a child care centre has to follow in order to be allowed to operate and every second year a person come and check that what we are doing are good enough. This person is due to come between 1st November and 12th of December. So cross you fingers for me that Im able to get up to date with my paper work before then. And this is also part of the reason for why Im up at 6am on a Saturday. The other reason for why Im up so early is that Hameed left for work at 4am and its hard to sleep again after being woken up.

This new photo is a cool photo of the sun I fun while searching for 'sun' on google image. I wanted to have a photo of the sun so I hopefully can see more of the real one soon. I want summer now!!!

missing my 'housewife'

ever since Hameed started to work I have been missing having someone here at home during the day to do all those boring little bits and pieces; such as scrubbing the toilet and shopping food. Now when Hameed is working too I cant come home from work anymore and slopp down in my nice seat and have my dinner served. Now I too have to do some of this work. And as tired as we have been lately it do not get done very easy. So calling for pizza has been been the soulution.... probably a few too many times.

Hopefully we will be able to get into a routine soon so that we are able to do it all and also have time to relax and enjoy eachother

rambeling..

What I have
is a man
who loves me
with heart and soul

I am grateful
I am blessed
but still I am depressed

I want more then I have
and my patient is wearing thin
Please God hear my pray
send a miracle this way

my blogging mummy

my mum has started her own blog! Pretty cool. I still remember how we wrote her a A4 page of instruction so she was able to check her email when we first got a computer. No 1 on the list : turn on the computer...

She has come a long way since then - thats for sure. She is now more then capable to check her email and write emails without any instructions, she can chat online and use webcam, she can send sms with her mobil. She can even take pictures with her new digital camera without cutting of everyones heads :)

And now also the latest - she is blogging. My lil sister got her started and I have help her a little with the layout, but other then that its all her. Pretty proud of you mum. Check out her blog here

August 21, 2006

its done..

my husband mention on his blog that he had to write a list of 100 things he wants to do for his class. I have for a while had my own list on 43 things, but have been pretty slack on updating and actually try to do some of the things in a long long time.

Anyhow, 1 of the things on my list has been to change bank. And today that was completed - yay! I can't remember why I chose the bank I did when I first came to Australia but I has always annoyed me that the bank did not have the option of Visa debit card. For a while it was oki because I still had my visa debit card from my bank in Norway and as long as there was money in the account I could use it when needed. But for the past year there has been very little money in my account in Norway so the need for a visa debit card linked to my account here in Australia became something I really wanted to have. An other thing I really missed was a savings account where I could just put away 10 dollars, 50 , 100 or whatever I had to spare whenever. The savings account we had was oki when we open it, but did not really work well when we no longer had stipends to save. The minimum deposit for our old savings account where 500 $ each time - so it was very very rare we manage to put anything away in savings and those money we had to spare was mostly used to buy lollies..

But from today of we have a visa debit account and a proper savings account. Feels good to have it done finally. Now we just need to figure out the insurance language, so we can get insurance too...

Yeah we are still here - even though it takes me forever to make updates to this blog. We are member of a forum - NCT- were one of the treads today was about posting a new photo of us. We took this photo and since it turned out oki I decided to post it here aswell. So now I dont have to update again for another few weeks :D

in other news

I was just reading the local newspaper from where I grew up - something I should do more often.. While other newspapers are full of war and disasters, my local newspaper also had room to report about one incident of a bit different character. A cow had managed to break through the fence and was wandering on the high way against the traffice. It became a bit of a fuss but with the help of the police the farmer got his cow safe onto the field and the traffic could run smooth again.

baby, baby

Glory baby you slipped away as fast as we could say baby...baby..
You were growing, what happened dear?
You disappeared on us baby...baby..
Heaven will hold you before we do
Heaven will keep you safe until we're home with you...
Until we're home with you...

Miss you everyday
Miss you in every way
But we know there's a day when we will hold you
We will hold you
You'll kiss our tears away
When we're home to stay
Can't wait for the day when we will see you
We will see you

But baby let God hold you 'till mom and dad can hold you...
You'll just have heaven before we do
You'll just have heaven before we do

Sweet little baby, it's hard to understand it 'cause we're hurting
We are hurting
But there is healing
And we know we're stronger people through the growing
And in knowing-
That all things work together for our good
And God works His purposes just like He said He would...
Just like He said He would...

photo of the week

the photo is taken in Bendigo a some more then a week ago. We went for a walk around Lake Weerona and stumble opon this creepy looking turtle thing.

Hipp hipp hurra

Its 17 of May -Norway's independence day. I remember being almost as excited about this day as chirstmas. I used to wake up early and tie old cans to my bike and then bike up and down the street to wake up my neigbours. When I become older I was part of a gang who would drive around with music blasting to wake people up - Dont ask me why we did this, it was part of the tradition and I dont think anyone really know why.

When I started University I moved to Oslo and after have celebrated 17of May there one year I always wanted to be in Oslo on 17 of May. The streets are filled with people, there are music and games everywhere. hotdog and icecream is sold on every corner - and of course the king! The king (and the rest of the royal family) would stay on their blacony and greet all the children walking in the parade. As Oslo is a fairly large city and has a few schools the parade would usually take between 3-4 hours. Yet the King would have a smile and a wave for every single one.

I have not celebrated 17 of May since 2002 and I actually almost forgot about it this year (I should have gotten some clue from my newspaper running lots of stories about national dresses..) Anyway, celebrating here in Australia, but i did start this morning singing the national athem and hopefully in not to many years we will be able to celebrate 17 of May in Oslo.

hmm

while watching 'biggest loser' Australia, which has people from Australia competing to lose weight and trainers from USA, I just came to realize that some names are pronouced differently in Australia then it is in USA. Never thought of this before. And strangly enough, even though I have lived 3 years in Australia and only 1 in USA I still use the american way of saying some things. No wonder I have to repeat myself so much..

photo of the week

its easter and the tradition in my family is to make yellow hard boiled egg. I tried with eggs that were already brown, i guess it works better with white eggs, but just look really carefully on the picture and tell me you see its a bit yellow - right...

30. Family history of obesity, diabetes, chronic depression? Minus 2 per each occurence.

Your score is an estimate of how long you can expect to live. A score less than 79 years is a "wake-up call" alerting you to take positive action. Long life isn't the result of smart genes and dumb luck. In fact, 80% of longevity is based on lifestyle, not genes. Living to be 100 depends on five factors: genetic inheritance (good genes give you a good head start), outlook (meaningful lives last longer), diet (you are what you eat), aerobic exercise (a fine-tuned engine wears better), and mental fitness (use it or lose it).

According to this quiz I will be 98 years old... guess I just have to wait and see.

just updating

on what had been going on in my life lately. I did not get my wishes granted the other week, my husband has still not been able to get a job and no visa yet. But we have an appointment with the immigration office on the 26th and if things goes like I hope he will be granted a visa that same day - which should also make it easier to get a job.

I have been trying so hard to be updated with all my paperwork for work this year, but is seems like this is a part of my job I just can not do... I have been pretty good, but still there are things I'm lacking behind on. A little pat on the back though; I started way late with the 3 monthly reports (the day before they were due) but even so I was the only one of the room leaders which manage to finish them on time. But now ofcourse I'm behind in some of the other things... Can't win I guess.

This past week has been a bit crazy. On tuesday I had to call my husband and ask him to bring me new shoes and socks. Why? Well one of the girls has figure out how to undo her nappy... so she did a big poo and then undid her nappy and left in on the floor. It was the time between lunch and the kids getting ready for a nap so it was pretty hectic and I ofcourse mange to step in the poo.... Oh well I guess thats just one of the quirks of my job...

The temperature here has dropped a lot. I dont think I ever will understand the weather here. Its close to 30 degrees on day and the next its 15 degrees, so we get autum with a 'bang' sort of. Trying to remember why I complained when its was 42 degrees... so cold now.

Planning to go swimming today. I really enjoy it, but have to wait until 2 pm when there will be som space for me in the inside pool. Im not swimming outside in this cold weather even though the pool is heated to 27 degrees. After I have been swimming I need to do some paperwork...

yes, officer

yesterday when I was riding my bike home from work I was asked to pull over by a policeman on a motorbike.

policeman:
how old are you?
me: 31 (thinking or am I 32..no im 31!)
policeman: do you understand english?
me: yes
Policeman: do you know that you ran a red light just now?
me: no....there was a light?
policeman: yes, you need to stop. That will be a fine of 210$
me: oki....
policeman: I'll leave you with a warning for now.

And then he left. I was a bit shaky after that and could not understand how I manage to run a red light. I checked it today and it turns out it was a pedristant crossing. I just kept going because there was no one crossing the road, but I guess Im meant to stop when its red even though there is no one crossing..

Well, lesson learnt, Im defently not risking 210$...

oh sexy...

I went swimming again today. I had been doing a couple of laps and was just taking a little rest at the shallow end when this guy in his 30's parade in with a very tight swim trunk. He proceded to parade back and forth along the pool apparantly trying to get some attention from the female lifeguard, something he did not get. He then stoped at the lap lane for 'fast swimmers', dived in with the biggest stomach splash you can imagine and when he surfaced he swam towards the end I was at with the wildest most uncontrolled 'crawl' swimming I have seen. As soon as he got to more shallow water he stoped swimming and started to walk instead. So much for 'fast' swimming....

*smiles*

Bane posted this story as his lates entry on his blog and i just had to quote it here because its a good one.

We had a gentleman come into Wal-Mart and make his way to electronics section. With a barely perceptible wobble in his step and only the faintest of beer favored scent to him, he requested the purchase of a new television set.

Nothing is odd about this so far, we get stinking drunk folk all the time, especially being open 24 hours. Nay, what set this fine example of the human race apart is how he attempted to purchase said television...

With a Blockbuster membership card.

He did promise the cashier that he would only use it to watch movies, which I suppose made sense in his dark little corner of reality, but she wasn't budging. He didn't understand there was no correlation between the two, even after it was helpfully suggested that that meant we would have no method of checking if he had late fees.

We were informed as he left the building that we will have no more business from him. I, for one, will miss him immensely.

odd

its 39 degrees outside and thats is pretty HOT, yet my troat hurt like im having a cold. Why is my body acting like its cold and winter?

*five little ducks went swimming one day...*

for a long long time now i have been wanting to start swimming. I read somewhere that swiming is the best thing to do to get ride of those yukky bumps on my thighs and bum...Not very sure if that is true, but no harm in trying.

Swimming is also an excersise which is easy to do with out getting injuries and it is relaxing and it was fun! I went for the first time today, finally, and I got a membership card so I will go back for more tomorrow.

time of my life

oh boy this has been the best weekend ever ! I was lucky enough to have friday of from work so it became a long weekend. We started thursday with going out for dinner to the same resturant we had our first real date. This time we celebrated our 3 months anniversary and it ws just as nice as first time we went there.

Friday was a very nice and hot day, so finally my husband decided that he wanted to go to the beach with me. Can yo beleive that we live about 1 hours away from the beach (with tram) and still this was the first time we were there this summer. Anyway the beach was great and the water was not to cold. So we spent the whole day playing and flirting. There was other people on the beach, but since we did not know them it almost felt like we were there all alone.

On Saturday I had to go down to city for a haircut and some shopping while my husband was allowed to clean the house. We meet up in the afternoon for some food shopping and then the evening was just realxing. It was still very hot on Saturday so not much else to do.

Yesterday which was Sunday the annualy street party here in Brunswick was on. The street party was about 10 blocks filled with stalls from resturants, cafees, community groups and clubs and also shops. There were also several stages where there was diferent bands playing and groups dancing. It was great! We did lots of people watching, enjoyed the food, the music and eachothers company.

So yeah defently a good weekend.

gift from 'svigermor'

my moms gift to my husband was a sweather she had knitted. She had almost finshed it before leaving Norway and plan to do the rest on the 30 hour flight down here. But because of flight security the flight attendants needed to take the knitting needles away from my mom, something they did with lots of apologices.

She manage to finish it here though doing a little bit everytime my husband went out and errand. The finish result look pretty good.

photo of the week

this weeks photo is of my little sister and myself playing two headed monster in my dads huge new jacket. At least we didn't feel cold anymore..

its raining its pooring

we had 3 hours to kill today before my family was due to go to the airport to go back to Norway. I suggested that we walked to a icecream place my little sister and I had been to earlier. It was a bit further to walk then I thought (we had biked last time we went) but we got there pretty hot and tired after about 1 hour walk.

The icecream was grand and well worth the long walk. When we left the shop and started to go home we noticed that the sky had become very dark, and soon enough it started to rain. First just a couple of drops but then it really started to poor down and we were totally wet within seconds. The rain came so fast it was flooding in the streets. Most other people out had taken covers in stores, cafes or bus shelters so we were the only ones walking in the rain and we got some stares because of that and also how wet we were. The rain was pretty warm and as it seem to rain heavier and heavier it actually became a bit funny. My mum got the giggels and then all of us had to laugh...

visit

my parents and little sister came to visit us all the way from Norway. It is pretty nice actually. Weird to talk so much norwegian but also good to see my family again. They also brought a big shopping bag full of real chocolate - yum! I was sitting on our bed just now and surfing the net while eating some chocolate and ended up spilling chocolate all over the bed... Oh well we do have a washing machine. My mom made dinner today aswell, nice to eat something she had cooked again too. But the best is that my husband and my parents are getting along very very well.

cool

An american (of course) guy named Doug Vick have invented this slippers with bulit in flashlights. The lights comes on automatically when you step into the slippers and reach 6 - 7 meters. Doug invented the slippers after he got tired of bumping into things in the dark at night. I would have solved this problem easier - just turn on the lights. But I still find this slippers very cool.

One if the reasons he thought of this is because he had lots of printer credit left at uni which he wanted to use before leaving. The picture consists of 66 A4 pages pasted together. If you view only one page it looks like a bunch of dots but put together it looks pretty good.

The finished picture became a bit bigger then we had expected though, so it is going to take a while to get use to looking at our big faces every time we enter our bedroom.

crazy weather

it has been very hot today. It was forcasted 35, but I'm pretty sure it has been up to 40. The parts of the child care centre which do not have air condition felt like a bakerovn.

My husband came to pick me up from work and the short bike ride from home had made him all exhausted. We hurried to the closest shopping centre for a bit to eat, it was so nice to be inside in to cool air condition. Then we went grocery shopping.

We was inside the shopping centre for no more then 30 minuts but by the time we go out it has started to be very grey and dark clouds. Before we could reach home, which takes us about 15 min, it started to rain and it was also much cooler. The rain lasted for maybe 10 minuts, and then the sky started to become some blue again. I took a shower and by the time I was finsihed with that, the sky was all blue again and it is alsmost as hot as it was earlier. Crazy.

January 19, 2006

aint that easy

When we were living in Bendigo we (or mostly me ) would order pizza when we could not be bothering doing any cooking.

Right now I'm really missing our old pizza place! We tried first to get a pizza from the same company as our old pizza place, but their closest shop is to far away from here, so they refused to deliver for us. Then we just looked in yellowpages and pick a place that was close to here. Well that was not a good idea. That was the worst pizza I have ever seen! We took one bit each and then trew it out.

Still hungry and still to lazy to cook we called another place which we have had pizza from before so we know it is at least eat able. They told us 30 min wait first and then called us back after a while because even though my husband repeated the adress twice and also got the chick on the phone to read it back to him, they got it wrong. So another 30 min. Then they called again and said that they had checked with our local shop and they could not deliver in 30 min, the earliest they could do was in an hour and a half !

My husband then asked me if I still wanted pizza and yeah I did, but only if they will give it for free and add a garlic bread. A request they smart enough agreed too.

But right now I wish we were back in Bendigo were you on weekdays could get pizza delivered in 15 min and it was always good. Well most of the time is was anyway. Sometimes we got a retarded chick on the phone which mixed up our ordes. What is this really with dumb people and pizza places?

lunch date

We had planned on a lunch date yesterday in one of the resturants in the main shopping street here.

First its seemed like we couldn’t make it as IKEA was delivering some things we bought and they were running late, very late. They finally came at 2 pm and as soon as they had left I called my husband and told him I was coming and then jumped on my bike.

Well the nice resturant I wanted to try was closed for holidays until next week…and so was most other places in our main shopping street. I never know resturants took weeks holidays, but I guess people that work there need some time of too.

Anyhow, we ended up in McDonalds. Not quit what we had in mind, but we still had a nice meal. When we finished eating we just walked around in the street holding hands and looking at all the small and interesting stores. So all in all it was a good date.
