cool

An american (of course) guy named Doug Vick have invented this slippers with bulit in flashlights. The lights comes on automatically when you step into the slippers and reach 6 - 7 meters. Doug invented the slippers after he got tired of bumping into things in the dark at night. I would have solved this problem easier - just turn on the lights. But I still find this slippers very cool.

If you view only one page it looks like a bunch of dots but put together it looks pretty good.

The finished picture became a bit bigger then we had expected though, so it is going to take a while to get use to looking at our big faces every time we enter our bedroom.

photo of the week

A small airplane was cruising over our apartment buliding and left a webpage address in the sky. I tried to take a picture of the whole address too, but it did not come out very clear, this is the best shot I got.

finally

I dont think I have been more greatful for sunset then I was today. Friday and yesterday was hot to, but today has been just way to much. With the sunset came the cool change and wind. It feels great! This week forcast is for 25 - 30 degress, that is more to my liking then over 40 as it has been the past days. I do still like summer though, really I do.

just...

crazy weather

it has been very hot today. It was forcasted 35, but I'm pretty sure it has been up to 40. The parts of the child care centre which do not have air condition felt like a bakerovn.

My husband came to pick me up from work and the short bike ride from home had made him all exhausted. We hurried to the closest shopping centre for a bit to eat, it was so nice to be inside in to cool air condition. Then we went grocery shopping.

We was inside the shopping centre for no more then 30 minuts but by the time we go out it has started to be very grey and dark clouds. Before we could reach home, which takes us about 15 min, it started to rain and it was also much cooler. The rain lasted for maybe 10 minuts, and then the sky started to become some blue again. I took a shower and by the time I was finsihed with that, the sky was all blue again and it is alsmost as hot as it was earlier. Crazy.

aint that easy

When we were living in Bendigo we (or mostly me ) would order pizza when we could not be bothering doing any cooking.

Right now I'm really missing our old pizza place! We tried first to get a pizza from the same company as our old pizza place, but their closest shop is to far away from here, so they refused to deliver for us. Then we just looked in yellowpages and pick a place that was close to here. Well that was not a good idea. That was the worst pizza I have ever seen! We took one bit each and then trew it out.

Still hungry and still to lazy to cook we called another place which we have had pizza from before so we know it is at least eat able. They told us 30 min wait first and then called us back after a while because even though my husband repeated the adress twice and also got the chick on the phone to read it back to him, they got it wrong. So another 30 min. Then they called again and said that they had checked with our local shop and they could not deliver in 30 min, the earliest they could do was in an hour and a half !

My husband then asked me if I still wanted pizza and yeah I did, but only if they will give it for free and add a garlic bread. A request they smart enough agreed too.

But right now I wish we were back in Bendigo were you on weekdays could get pizza delivered in 15 min and it was always good. Well most of the time is was anyway. Sometimes we got a retarded chick on the phone which mixed up our ordes. What is this really with dumb people and pizza places?

This strip remind me of my childhood when my friends and I will try to sleep outside in a tent or in a cubby house. I dont know how many times we tried, but every time one of us started to tell a scary story and it ended with that we all ran home to our moms...

lunch date

We had planned on a lunch date yesterday in one of the resturants in the main shopping street here.

First its seemed like we couldn’t make it as IKEA was delivering some things we bought and they were running late, very late. They finally came at 2 pm and as soon as they had left I called my husband and told him I was coming and then jumped on my bike.

Well the nice resturant I wanted to try was closed for holidays until next week…and so was most other places in our main shopping street. I never know resturants took weeks holidays, but I guess people that work there need some time of too.

Anyhow, we ended up in McDonalds. Not quit what we had in mind, but we still had a nice meal. When we finished eating we just walked around in the street holding hands and looking at all the small and interesting stores. So all in all it was a good date.

today

we finally went to IKEA. I haven't been to an IKEA store since I left Norway almost 3 years ago. It was good and in the same time odd to see that the store here was exatully the same as any IKEA stores in Norway.

We didn't get everything we wanted because some parts where out of stock. So we are going back to get 1 bed frame, 1 bedside table, 1 tallboy (why is it really called that?) and another set of drawers for our office. It is going to be strange to have a real bed after have been sleeping on a madress on the floor for more then a year.

What we did get today though was good and cheap lunch at the IKEA cafe and a sofa bed for our office/guest room. So now we are pretty much prepared for my parents visit in february.

The movie overall was fun, good animated and the story was new and different from the original story (which I also like) The chicken himself reminded me of some of the kids I have been teaching. Would absolut recommand this movie.

antz...

Today we just had enough. So I went to the supermarked and got the strongest insect spray they had. When I got back I sprayed on the outside of the house first as high up as I could. And then back up in our flat my husband took over and sprayed every inch.

After a little rest, we scrubbed the whole flat – so right now its nice clean and antz free :D Lets hope it stays like that…

goals

me and more me

So who is this 'dynamitt' and why that name?

Dynamitt is a word play on my name. My real name is , well used to be at least, Dina Smith. My best friends little brother called me 'dynamitt' to tease me. I hated it when I was 12. I really don't mind it now. I use dynamitt as a name on most things now a days, easy to remember.

You said your name used to be Dina Smith?

Yes, but in December 2005 I got married to Hameed and as old fashion as I am I took Hameed as a last name about 6 months later. Being a Norwegian living in Australia, in the middle of applying for permanent visa, it was a bit to complicated to change my name at our wedding day.

So your husbands name is Hameed Hameed?

Hehe, no. His name is Hussain Hameed, but everyone (well almost everyone) call him Hameed. I called him Hameed for 3 1/2 years before I change my name, so it just felt weird to start calling him Hussain.

A norwegian living in Australia, how did that happen?

I am a pre-school teacher and I took my bachelor of education in Norway. After working at a child care centre in Oslo, Norway for some more then 2 years I realized that I really did not know much about children with special needs. I wanted to go back to studies to learn more about special education and I really wanted to study in English. The options was: UK, USA or Australia. Both UK and USA is ridiculous expensive, so Australia is was.

So are you still studying?

No, and that I am greatful for. Oh don't get me wrong, it was great to study here but I am so glad I don't have to read for exams or write assignments ever. again.

But you still live in Australia?

Yes, and we will probably stay. I met Hameed shortly after I arrived here. We actually lived in the same house on campus. We hit it of right away and became best friends pretty much from the first time we met. Then we became a couple and later we got married. It has always been easier for us to live in Australia as we both know this place just as well.

Are you Australian citizen then?

Nope, I am still very much a Norwegian. I have Australian permanent visa though and Hameed is in the final stages of getting his. Visa applications are now fun I tell you. To much paper work and to much waiting. I hate waiting.

Hameed is not Australian either?

No, he is a proud Maldivian, who cant figure out why Australians are not able to say 'Maldives' the right way.

So what do you do now when you are not studying anymore?

Now I work in a child care center. It is hard work, but I love it. My dream though is to one day be able to open my own center. Hopefully that can come true when we are able to buy our own house.

And Hameed, what is he doing?

He is a student right now (poor guy). He is doing a degree in IT so in a few months he will be earning lots and lots of money and I can hang around and do nothing (well I can dream)

I saw there was a link to 'Sami's story'. Who is Sami?

Sami is our son who was born 6th of August 2007 and passed away on the 1oth of August 2007. He was born with so many complications so he did not really have any chance. I am working on writing up all of his story. Slowly, very slowly..

So why did you start a blog?

Because I am cool and hip like that.... No, not really. Probably mostly so my mum can keep track of my whereabouts. One of these days though I hope to be able to earn a few pennies from my blog. I just have to figure out how.
